Mrs. Stanley celebrates 100!
A double celebration. LCA marks its
hundredth anniversary and Helen Stanley turns one hundred. Long
time curling supporter, Mrs. Stanley and her husband, Dr. Stanley,
donated a trophy back in 1960 for beginning curlers.This trophy
has been awarded every year to curlers with less than five years
experience.
Mrs. Stanley has religiously kept up a scrapbook of pictures
given to her every year of the trophy winners. The winner of
the Stanley Trophy in 2003, held in Brockville,was the Christie
Farquhar rink from the RA Curling Club. The RA team were delighted
to meet Mrs. Stanley at the Extendicare New Orchard Lodge in
Ottawa's West end and were honoured to have her present the Stanley
Trophy to them. Also present in the photo above is LCA Vice President,
Judy Meloche.
